it's a really tired, dumb cliche in american tv, 'overcoming adversity to triumph', right? not that there's anything wrong with overcoming and mastering conditions, on the contrary
it's just that it's a little bit insulting when we're told that some coke sniffing supermodel who has champagne for breakfast has triumphed over a mental illness: bulimia
or the serial killer who was mocked in prison but triumphed over that adversity to become a model prison citizen, etc
or the movie star that had suffered through 10 divorces, all of which were covered by pre-nups, but triumphed because oprah said she did
or that newspaper that never managed to tell the truth but would have and could have and anyway their intentions were great and that's what counts so they triumphed over adversity too
well above we have an artist's rendition of what megan kelly would look like with a harelip condition (a birth defect named after the look of a rabbit's mouth -- also known as cleft palate), we can just imagine how she triumped over bigotry to carry on wishing genocide on iraqi civilians
