in other news, an 'ossie' (person of english ethnicity that denies his own ethnicity completely, instead purporting to be ethnically australian), recently told me at beach, before mounting his row-ing craft for a long paddle, that i shouldn't worry about sharks in the area (you have to admire the english-ossie for his bravery around sharks in general) -- upon reminding him that an american was recently killed by a shark off the coast of australia he quipped:
'well that's no loss, is it?'
see, it's a funny relationship those americans have with people of english ethnicity -- they both seem to trust and love eachother so much becoz of the mutual anglo-saxon-name-sharing, but under the surface.....
