my relationship to Spain: my first approach to Spain was through my parents... both of my parents were Aries personalities and therefore had lofty natures, a tendency to rule and dominate, generous and affable amongst their peers and prone to becoming impatient with those these perceive as not seeking to rise........ this is typical of the Aries personality regardless of the conditions of the world where the Aries Soul manifests........
as i was saying, my first approach to Spain was via my parents and not much was given up in the way of oral instruction as neither parent cared to teach me their language and, in fact, wilfully chose to deprive me of it..... furthermore, my father, who was undoubtedly more Celtic than the rest of his family, no doubt found it easier to assimilate racially in his new country (Australia) then the rest of his family who were victimized unmercifully every 2nd and 3rd (as the spanish say) by the odious anglo-saxon bigots of Australia...... if not all of them all of the time, then certainly some of them some of the time....
certainly i remember a great deal of my childhood as peopled by a different and hostile tribe (anglo-saxons were the most damned and blamable - but also present were some Scots and Celts of various Celtic genes) --- generally a Scot or an Irishman is not of its own self a victimizer but the predatory anglo-saxon influence ends up turning them into cold predators as this is the anglo-saxon way.......
anyway -- all i got from my parents about Spain was one or two creme-caramel deserts from my mother (spain's delicous 'flan' dessert - similar to france's creme-caramel) -- very many 'spanish omelettes' (tortilla de patata) and 'russian salads' (ensaladilla rusa) -- all typical meals of spain's gastronomy......... in general it should be realized that a great many european nations (england is not one of them any more) still maintain a strong tradition of eating at a table with a proper national gastronomy -- unfortunately, america has barely known this tradition, perhaps moreso it did in the past than now --- but certainly there is a powerful force in the culture -- blame christianity or cheaper, mechanized processes, to break down the family culture and the nuclear family unit (or blame alcohol and the pill) -- but regardless of how idiotic the European Nation -- a great many of these Europeans still represent having a strong national gastronomy and sitting down like humans for proper meals.......... the anglo-saxon, with all his contempt for the greek man -- still lags behind him in this respect..........
hence from my parents i got flan, tortilla de patata and ensaladilla rusa as a spanish bequeathal....... the only spanish language transmitted was the very limited vocabulary used in a typical spanish card game 'mus' --- which has been outlined earlier in this blog......... there was also the spanish genes (probably having some kind of celtic and sephardic jewish traces amongst whatever other spanish genes there)...... and the spanish blood and the spanish upbringing and education and heritage of the parents..........
being completely dumb as to spanish language, and indeed, not even knowing what a different language was or that there were indeed different languages in the world..... it became evident that my family were the enemies of society becoz of their vulnerability and differentness to the mainstream which was actually an englishman on a pedestal masquerading as a non-englishman australian........... later i came to realize just what kind of scumbag the man-of-england really is, at bottom, and how he surrounds himself with minorities of many different flags so as to divide and conquer and villify them all so as to sit atop his sad mountain in all his pompous and 'majestic' glory........ this is the man-of-england colonialist...
when i express dissappointment that the american's champion this kind of bigot... it should not be taken as a sign that i do not respect america -- but rather that because i do respect america, i would expect better from them........... certainly i have seen no spaniards championing bigotry of england ever --- not even in Gibraltar where they all speak english and have english manners and fly the english flag over their heads...........
nobody should be jealous of my spanish-ness....... it wasn't won easily --- despite being completely dumb to the language -- i have now achieved complete mastery over this language ---- so that now, i may flick on spanish television, and, so long as they are not talking gossip about some idiot royal family (and that is no sign of disrespect to spain's royal family --- but simply that i concur with the american constitution that titles should not be hereditary) or overly about football (as they are overly emotional dedicated to this sport, like the other europeans, due to a feeling of emptiness in their lives) ---- and follow them word for word....... when the spaniards speak on television -- their words fall on my ears crystal clear -- not a word is lost........ so that even if i present myself in spain and many people there detect an accent (as occurs to me now when i speak english, people think that i must be canadian) -- so too in spain when i speak the local language there, an accent is detected as being different to their own continent --- nevertheless --- i still have my spanish genes and spanish parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins and my perfect comprehension of spoken spanish...... furthermore, i would add, in spain - and when dealing with spanish language -- as it contains new psychology and new concepts (as all languages do) --- i fortunately find myself deaf to evil -- hearing no evil --- so that when bigots come to me to distill poison in my ears -- my consciousness can barely process it and it is really like water striking a duck's back........
in english however, no such luck with the noisy bigotry..... i am more keenly aware of it......
the fact that i have gained this wonderful ability to communicate completely and free of any incumbrance in a 2nd language will not be wasted -- nor will be my spanish-ness...... i have spent 3 years in spain and savored every moment like i was eating at a fine restaurant -- even when surrounded rarely by disreputable, scummy places.....
just becoz you do not sky-dive every day doesn't mean you don't enjoy it when you do do it......
i will certainly return to spain before i expire my last breath -- that is a certainty --- and as i intend to most likely live a longish lifetime in this particular lifetime, the logical thing at some point will be to return to spain and enjoy my nationality there - even if only for a mere 3 years more.....
