putumayo arabic groove cd

has arrived from Pennsylvania, sans tax..... cheap buy and cheap postage....

one book i read as a kid, which never became a hollywood movie... despite 'the chronicles of narnia' being made into a movie (??!!), is 'the magician' by raymond feist... an american author of hispanic origin based/from southern california.... feist's book is a good read for kids, i wouldn't bother reading it again however one particular part of the book comes to mind as memorable.... in the story, some kid becomes apprenticed as some kind of gay-arse magician.... then a rift in the space-time continuum is opened up by superior magicians from a different planet... they have some kind of superior chilled out asian mentality.... one of their elite magicians then realizes that the now slave-kid apprentice magician, now grown up, has a shitload of midiclorians so he gets sent to some kind of monastery to become a magician in the style of the superior planet.... there are only three levels of mastery at their school: white coat, grey coat, black coat... black coat means you're like a full jedi.... the most memorable part of this novel is when the kid from the backward-arse planet, now grown up on the more advanced planet, goes from either white to grey or grey to black robe.... his teacher just communicates with him in telepathy at this point... definitely a good read (this part of the novel)
